How to ride a bike in Barcelona



Barcelona is a magical city , with tons of attractions, monuments, and famous buildings to visit within a close distance from each other. This is what makes it perfect for cycling 

You can replace the heat and crowds in the metro for the feeling of wind in your face while admiring the urban views and beautiful buildings Barcelona has to offer. This is the best way to connect to a new place on a deeper level.

The Barcelona City Council has been trying to encourage cycling  and they have been doing so by expanding and improving cycling infrastructures in Catalonia's capital.
Now a days cycling lanes connect the entire city, making it much easier and less risky for bikers to ride around town.

Where to ride your bike?

You can circulate following the Street direction being respectful and careful towards the pedestrians.

You are not allowed to ride on the Street, ONLY if underage cyclist with an adult watching over them

How should you ride ?



You have to keep a riding position that allows you to circulate correctly, therefore you can not:

  • Ride on one Wheel
  • Ride without hands
  • Zigzag through cars
  • Use headphones or take phone calls (you could get a fine)



Where can you park?

With the bicycle getting more and more popular there has been more bike thieves than before, so when parking make sure to lock the wheel and the frame. To ensure its safety, we provide two locks when renting our bikes, so you can lock the front and the back 
You should park your bike on the special bike parking áreas. In case there  are none around you can park on the street avoiding:
  •          Traffic lights, benches, containers, trash cans
  •          Parking for people with reduced mobility, loading and unloading,reserved or prohibit áreas ( such as hospitals, clinics, emergency exits, Bicing service zones)

What elements must the bike have?

The bike should have a bell plus front and back position light and reflecting elements


How many passangers can you take on a bike?

You can take a minor of under 7 years old with an extra seat, whom must wear a helmet.
